I am proud to present you our new “baby”, our 2007 Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot version of Bodega Noemía.
I arrived in France, Bordeaux in 1974.
The first seven years of my life were spent in St Estephe, the infamous area in the Medoc.I attented primary school along with my younger brother at the village holding the same name.It was then under the direction of Madame Papo.
My parents were very surprised one night when we told them that the teachers served us wine at lunch, we were only five or six years old at the time!
Of course they then found out that the wine was mixed with water but the even bigger surprise, was that it was the “vin de grapillons” of the grand Chateau de Pez!And what’s more Madame Papo was the wife of the “maitre de chai” of the chateau, which explained all.
This was the very beginning of a long lasting passion for Bordeaux and it’s wines.
I carried on living in Bordeaux until 1998, at my parents Chateau in the Graves area.During all those years we were spoiled, drinking the best wines Bordeaux could deliver, being brought up mingling with the most legendary names that forged the area.It is without a doubt the best education I could ever dream of, especially being in the wine world today.
The other marvelous thing was that occasionally our parents, would conduct educational blind tastings for us, of wines from all over the world.
By the age of 18 we could pin point the areas, chateaux and years of most of the great wines coming from both sides of the Gironde river.
One day three years ago, I told Noemí and our “super dedicated team”, here in the Rio-Negro valley in Patagonia, that out of nostalgia, I would like to make a Bordeaux style wine from our Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot grapes that were planted in the 40’s and 50’s.
So we started to recondition the old vines we had on the estate and in 2007 I made our first “cuveé” of Bodega Noemía Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot.
We absolutely loved the outcome so much, that we both decided we would like to share it with you.
We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!
The total production is only of 1,500 bottles and 10 Magnums.
This wine will not be released every year as it will only be made in exceptionnal years that favour the highly complexe Cabernet-Sauvignon.
